Instead of a children's food table for Thanksgiving this year, we seated the kiddos with the adults and used what would have been their eating space to do crafts. We collected leaves for many days before turkey day as well as parts to make turkeys and threw in a beading project for good measure (and because some of our little ones love to bead!)
Even the rough and rumble boys who played football outside for much of the morning settled down to make stuff as a family. As various other friends and family came in, they joined. It was a big hit and something I hope we do more often.
The littlest one, just ate cheerios and watched but by next year, I expect he will be crafting with the rest of us!
